“Stay curious. Ask the hard questions. Leave things better than you found them.”

I’m an operations leader, entrepreneur, problem solver, artist, Air Force veteran, husband, and proud dad of two boys. At my core, I’ve always been fascinated by how things work and even more interested in how they can work better.

My career started on a somewhat unconventional path, including a short detour through art school before joining the U.S. Air Force. My time in the military had a lasting influence on me, teaching me discipline, accountability, attention to detail, and the importance of being part of something larger than yourself. After completing my enlistment, I earned a master’s degree in military history with plans to pursue a PhD and teach at the university level. Then 2009 forced many changes in everyone’s plans…including my own.

My first experience in manufacturing was literally out of this world. I joined a government contractor at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans as an industrial safety engineer. Supporting teams performing critical, and sometimes dangerous, work on equipment that would carry astronauts into space gave me an early appreciation for the importance of good processes, effective training, strong communication, and teamwork.

Since then, I’ve spent more than 15 years leading manufacturing and logistics operations, progressing through roles that kept me close to the people doing the work and eventually into executive leadership. That journey shaped how I think about business. Great organizations aren’t built from the boardroom alone. They’re built when strong leadership, capable people, practical processes, and clear expectations work together.

I’m naturally curious and probably incapable of leaving a problem alone once I know it exists. Whether it’s an operational bottleneck, a struggling team, an unclear strategy, or something that simply doesn’t make sense, I want to understand what’s really driving it. I’ve learned that the obvious problem is rarely the whole problem. Sustainable improvement starts with better questions, listening to the people closest to the work, and being willing to challenge assumptions…including my own.

Outside of work, the most important part of my life is my family. My wife, Jenna, and our two sons, Joseph and Jack, keep life busy, entertaining, and in perspective. We’ve made our home in Summerville, South Carolina, where I’ve enjoyed becoming deeply involved in the community. Whether supporting local organizations, volunteering through our church, or helping organize community events, I believe being part of a community means contributing to it.

I am also an artist and love painting, design, and tackling projects around the house that inevitably become more complicated than originally planned. Painting gives me the freedom to experiment without knowing exactly where something will end up. Interestingly, that creative process has influenced how I approach leadership: have a vision, stay curious, adjust as you go, and don’t be afraid to change direction when something isn’t working.

Today, as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of ForgePoint Partners, I get to bring those experiences together. We built ForgePoint around a simple belief: organizations don’t need another consultant telling them what’s wrong and leaving behind a binder of recommendations. They need experienced people willing to work alongside them, understand what’s really happening, and help turn ideas into action.

For me, success isn’t about the presentation we leave behind. It’s about leaving behind stronger leaders, more capable people, better systems, and an organization equipped to keep improving long after we’re gone.
